Paul Timm, pen name M. Paul Hollander, is the author of five historical fiction books written for the Young Adult Market. Under his given name, Paul Timm, the retired history teacher travels around southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois giving presentations that recount the politics, history, and legacy of historical events.
His latest book, Guardian Angel: The Lewis and Clark Saga, recounts the expedition from an unlikely source. Sgt. Charles Floyd, the only member of the Corps of Discovery to perish on the journey, is sent back to watch over the remainder of the two-year adventure and is posed with the task of keeping them safe in what can only be described as harrowing conditions. This journey, in that particular time period, was equivalent to placing a man on the moon in the 1960s. It was an impossible task, and it would seem as if all the stars aligned to enable this expedition to be a success.
